Official Ticket Channels
The most convenient way to buy Ruhrtriennale tickets is through the official online webshop, where you can select your seats from the available categories and pay by PayPal, credit card, or direct debit. After purchase, you'll receive a mobile ticket by email; if you prefer a printed ticket or need to use public transport, you should print the PDF version in advance. Phone orders are handled by the ticket hotline, and you can also buy tickets in person at Eventim advance booking offices or at the venue box offices on the day of the performance, subject to availability.
When ordering by phone, note that a shipping fee of €4.50 per shipment applies, and payment is by direct debit or credit card, as detailed on the official ticket page. Box offices open 60 minutes before the start of each performance, and you can pay in cash or by card.
Ticket Prices and Seating Categories
Ticket prices for the Ruhrtriennale vary by production and seating category. Check the official ticket page and the selected production in the webshop before choosing seats. Compare the final amount and any stated booking conditions for your chosen performance rather than using a price quoted for a past event.
Seating categories are clearly marked in the webshop, allowing you to choose between different price levels and views. It's worth comparing options for popular shows, as some productions may sell out quickly. For the best selection, book as early as possible.
Early Bird Discount: Save 10% Before 31 May 2026
If you're planning to attend the Ruhrtriennale, consider taking advantage of the early bird offer, which gives you a 10% discount on tickets purchased until 31 May 2026. This discount applies to all available tickets, but cannot be combined with any other discount. To secure the early bird rate, book your tickets through the official channels before the deadline.
Discounts for Students, Children, Unemployed, and Volunteers
A substantial 50% discount is available for children, school pupils, and students up to 30 years of age, as well as federal volunteers and unemployed people. This reduction applies to all available tickets, but you must present valid identification at the entrance to prove your eligibility. The discount cannot be combined with the early bird offer, so choose the best option for your situation. For full details, see the official ticket page.
Family Ticket Deals
Families can purchase special family tickets for productions aimed at young audiences, which are valid for two to five people and must include at least one adult and one child. These tickets are available directly in the webshop and offer a discounted rate compared to buying individual tickets. You can select the family ticket option when booking online.
Bring Your Friends and RuhrBühnen*Spezial
The 'Bring Your Friends' promotion lets you bring up to three friends at a 50% discount on each full-price ticket, but only for selected performances. This is a great way to enjoy the festival with a group while saving money. Check the production pages to see which performances are included in the promotion.
Check the official ticket page for any special offers attached to the performance you want to attend. Read the eligibility conditions and whether the offer can be combined with another discount before booking. A promotion for an earlier performance does not establish the price or availability of a later one.
School Groups and Class Bookings
Schools and classes of 10 or more students can reserve tickets for all performances at a special rate of €5 per pupil and per accompanying person, with a maximum of two accompanying persons per class. Reservations are subject to availability and can be made until after the summer holidays, or at the latest 14 days before the performance. For direct bookings, tickets must be ordered at least seven working days in advance.
To reserve tickets for school groups, send an email to jungetriennale@ruhrtriennale.de. It’s important to plan ahead, as availability may be limited for popular shows.
Accessibility: Accompanying Persons with Severe Disability Pass
The Ruhrtriennale is committed to accessibility. Persons with a severe disability who hold a pass with ID B can receive two tickets—one for themselves and one for an accompanying person—for the price of one ticket. This offer is available by booking through the ticket hotline or at the box office, and you'll need to present your pass at the event.
Cultural Inclusion: KulturPott.Ruhr Free Admission
In cooperation with KulturPott.Ruhr e.V., the Ruhrtriennale offers free admission to selected events for individuals who may be excluded from cultural participation for various reasons.
