When Does SCHLINGEL Take Place? Key Dates for 2026

The next SCHLINGEL International Film Festival for Children and Young Audiences is scheduled to take place from 2 October to 10 October 2026 in Chemnitz. This annual event transforms the city into a hub of cinematic discovery for younger audiences and industry professionals alike.

The official festival website lists the event window, and the Chemnitz city page confirms the dates and offers a direct contact number: 0371 444 7441. As the event approaches, exact screening times and venue schedules are announced on these official channels.

Keep in mind that exact screening times and venue schedules are usually announced closer to the event, so check the festival's website for the latest program updates.

What Ticket Types Are Available?

While specific ticket categories for 2026 have not been listed yet, film festivals of this kind typically offer single screening tickets, day passes, and full-festival passes. Single tickets are ideal for catching one or two specific films, while day passes allow access to multiple screenings in a single day, and full-festival passes are cost-effective for dedicated attendees planning to see many films throughout the week.

Children's film festivals often also provide family tickets or group rates for school classes. Since the official lineup and pricing are not yet available, verify the exact options and conditions on the festival's official website, which we linked earlier in this guide.

Official Ticket Outlets and Where to Buy

To avoid overpaying or falling victim to scams, always purchase tickets from official sources. The festival typically sells tickets through its own website and at the box offices of participating cinemas in Chemnitz. The official SCHLINGEL website (ff-schlingel.de/en/) is your go-to for reliable ticket purchasing information.

The Chemnitz city website provides practical information and a contact number for inquiries: 0371 444 7441. For any direct questions about ticket sales or where to buy, call this number during festival planning months.

Be cautious of third-party resale websites that may list inflated prices or unauthorized tickets. Stick to official channels and double-check the legitimacy of any seller.

Ticket Sale Periods and When to Book

Historically, tickets for SCHLINGEL go on sale a few weeks before the festival begins, but specific dates have not been officially announced for the 2026 edition. Because popular screenings and events can sell out quickly, especially for school groups, we recommend checking the official festival website regularly and signing up for any newsletter if available.

Once the program is released, which typically happens several weeks in advance, you can plan which films to see. The official festival website will be the first to publish on-sale dates and links to buy tickets online.

Understanding Seat Reservations and Cinema Venues

SCHLINGEL screenings take place in multiple cinemas across Chemnitz, each with its own seating arrangements. Depending on the venue, seats may be assigned or on a first-come, first-served basis. When purchasing tickets, you'll often find details about seating options.

For specific films and venues, we advise checking the festival's official program or contacting the festival directly. This ensures you know whether you need to arrive early or if you have a guaranteed seat.

Ticket Prices and Discounts

While official ticket prices for the 2026 SCHLINGEL festival have not been released, past editions have offered reduced rates for children, students, and groups. It is common for children's film festivals to have special family deals. However, we cannot confirm the current prices, and you should avoid relying on information from unofficial sources.

For up-to-date pricing and discount eligibility, refer to the official festival website or contact the festival directly via the Chemnitz city contact. As mentioned, calling 0371 444 7441 can provide clarity on ticket costs.

Resale Rules and Ticket Help

Resale of tickets is generally prohibited or restricted for festival events to prevent fraud. If you find that you cannot attend a screening, it's best to contact the festival's customer service to see if you can return or exchange your ticket. Do not attempt to sell tickets on secondary markets, as these tickets might be invalid.

For any ticket-related issues, the official contact number 0371 444 7441 is your direct line to the festival organizers in Chemnitz. They can assist with questions about ticket availability, lost tickets, and other concerns.

Additionally, if you have any doubts about the authenticity of a ticket or a seller, reach out to the festival before making any payment.
